Sixty players gathered at Discovery Bay Golf Club Saturday, August 29 under sunny skies and perfect conditions for the Soroptimist Eleventh Annual Scramble for Service. The event benefited foster families and victims of domestic violence.
The Scramble format was augmented with a putting contest and a water hole contest.
In Division A the first place winners with a score of 56 were the Chimacum High School team, defending their first place of 2008: Adam Barrows, Kyle Doucette, Eric Nelson and Mitch Black. Second place, the Port Townsend High School team with a 58: Ronny Harrell, Mike Lux, Sean Anderson and Gabe Tonan. Third place, with a 64, went to Vern Ahrendes, Gary Griswold, David Schores and Mickey Nagy.
Division B first place with a score of 63: Jeremy Vance, Scott McKeag, Jim Holt and Ed Kraft. Second place and 2008 defending champions: Mike Blair, Art Clarke, Reto Filli and Tim Caldwell scoring 65. Third place with a 66: David Nelson, Janet Nelson, Dave Grauberger and Ray Peterson.
The putting contest was won by Art Clarke with an 8.
The day's golf was capped with refreshments during the award ceremony and raffle of more than 30 items.
